This work was developed during an artist residency at Tokyo Wonder Site in Tokyo. During my stay, I began looking for a point of connection with the city and its everyday materials. I was struck by how often rope appeared in different contexts, and I started to think of it as an artery linking bodies and spaces.
The installation is made of traditional and coloured ropes that tightly hold drawings on an oval canvas, as if the energy of the work ran through them like blood through a body. The ropes cross the space, leave a mark, and then symbolically return to their source.
